🍅 Tomato Art

You can’t force a ripe, juicy tomato to do something it doesn’t want to do. You’ve got to listen to the tomato – consider where it wants to go, what it wants to be – before you go lassoing it to the ground. At least that’s how I see it! Faced with a bevy of beauties this week, I could barely bring myself to do any more than cut them into wedges. They looked so gorgeous just lying on the cutting board — a rainbow of dominoes. Alas, having brought them home from the market, I owed it to them to put them to good use.

I almost stopped right here.

Fortunately, the tomatoes had cozied up to a bowl of ripe peaches on my counter. I also noticed there was a bit of flirting going on with the handsome bunch of fresh basil across the room. When pressed, all three admitted they’d like to hang out together; they just needed a simple vinaigrette, to kind of, you know, break the ice.
